Pinan Shodan - The Pinan Shodan kata consists of the following moves:


Two blocks: From a feline position


Blocks of knives' hands: In stepping patterns



Punches and kicks delivered in reverse: From a combat position


When switching between postures, downblocks are followed by rising blocks.


Sho-dan Heian | Pinan Shodan





Nine different block and strike combinations make up the kata Pinan Shodan. It is frequently the first kata that newcomers learn and is the first kata in the Heian series.


The following advice will help you perform Pinan Shodan:


The back side of the body is used for the first six procedures.

This kata generates power by using reverse body motion.



A step back into the starting position marks the end of the kata.



In 1907, Anko Itosu developed the five Pinan kata. They were supposed to be included in high school students' normal curriculum.
