Cardio-Kickboxing for a Karate Workout
Karate Workout - About five or six days a week, 60 minutes of intense aerobic exercise is advised for your health. Try putting on your favorite music while working out, be light on my toes, and simply sparring on the punching bags.
When sparring with the heavy bag, some people find it difficult to come up with their own combos. For novices, I recommend practicing each technique roughly 50 times with each fist and foot.
Begin with 50 jabs with your left hand before switching to your right. Try 50 reverse punches or crosses on the left side first, followed by the opposite side. Before attempting the right side, switch to the left side for back fist punches. After that, switch sides and perform 50 front kicks. Finally, try 30 round kicks per side.
Try these karate combos:
Backfist, Reverse punch, Jab, jab, cross, uppercut
Jab, Reverse punch, Roundhouse kick, spinning back-kick
Backfist, Round Kick, Reverse Punch, jab, cross, sidekick
Front kick, Backfist, Reverse punch, Double Roundhouse Kick
Don't forget to get creative and make your own combos. Very important.
Karate Workout | Sit Ups
Sit ups are a great way to build the abdomen. Lay with your feet flat and put your hands on your chest. Then reach up towards your knees. Do this 50 times or until you can't do them anymore. Do four sets.
Karate pushups are very important because they build the muscles in front of your stomach, the abs, These protect your solar plexis from getting hit, which knocks you out in a karate match. So built up abs protect against becoming knocked out.
Jack Knives | Karate Core Strength Training
Jack knives are more difficult than crunches, but they are ideal for karate training because they strengthen your core and target the lower back muscles utilized for kicking. Slowly raise your hands and legs together to gain more benefits with fewer repetitions. Work your way up to 60 by starting each morning with 12. Work on focusing on your abs, lower back muscles, and holding the jack knife for as long as possible.
Karate Workout | Push Ups for Karate
Every Morning do 2 rounds of push ups. Wide spaced arms and slow and low push ups with about 12 reps. Do 5 sets in two rounds. Then take a small break and come back. Keep your arms tucked in to simulate keeping your hands up to quick block after you do an attack such as a jab, cross, or uppercut.
Burpees or 5 Count Squats
This is an excellent last exercise to get the entire body working in unison for Karate training once the blood is flowing and you're warmed up. If you can, aim for around 20. Perform a jumping jack, a squat, a drop, a push-up or two, and so on. If you're in the mood for something a little more challenging, you can replace the jumping jack with a high-reaching jump.
